Ford Repair: 2002 ford explorer a/t, servive, valve body

Question
I took my explorer in to get transmission service.I have 65000 miles on it and have never had it serviced. The servive advisor called me at home and said it didn't need fluid changed till 100,000 miles .Can this be  right?? It doesn't have a dipstick.

Answer
Charles:

While the transmission fluid is not "required" to be changed until 100,000 miles it is not a bad idea to change it early.  Transmission fluid is under extreme pressure and temperatures that break down the lubricants and additives in the fluid.  Contaminated fluid can cause valve body concerns, burned clutches, and internal pressure leaks.  I would suggest having the transmission serviced to prevent such problems.
