Ford Repair: FUEL PUMP, mercury grand marquis, fuel pump relay

Question
No fuel pump pressure on a Mercury grand marquis
1998--is it the fuel pump--or something else
how bad is to replace the pump and any tips or things to watch for. the car has 90000 miles on it

Answer
The fuel pump will have to be replaced if it has power and a good ground and is not working.  The fuel tank would have to be drained and removed to access the pump.  Your vehicle could have an electrical problem causing the fuel pump to not work.  I would check for power at the fuel pump fuse, the fuel pump relay, the inertia fuel cut-off switch, and the fuel pump before replacing any parts.

I hope this helps,
