Ford Repair: Suspension, ford explorer ball joints, lower ball joints

Question
If my upper and lower ball joints are in need of replacement does that necessarily mean that I need to have the upper and lower control arms a nd the stabilizer bar replaced?  I have a 98 Ford Explorer.

Answer
Ball joints on a 1998 Explorer 4x4 are not serviced separatly. If the ball joint requires service, the front suspension lower arm or the front suspension upper arm will have to be installed new.  If the stabilizer links are not worn or broken they would not require replacing. If they are rusted/corroded, or break during removal, they would not be reusable.

I hope this helps,
