Where can I find the best info on removing and replacing the engine in my 1994 Ford Explorer? Or is easier to replace the heads rather than swap out my engine for other used one?

A haynes or chilton service manual will be the most easiest and least expensive way to get a complete "play by play" of engine replacement.  Cylinder heads can be swapped in-chassis, and can be done normally in less than one day.
