Ford Repair: Taurus transmission linkage failure, shift linkage, junkyard

Question
I have a 1995 Taurus SW (3.8L automatic) which may wife was driving when the shift linkage appeared to fail.  The transmission would not respond to movements (between Park/Reverse/Neutral/drive-1 or 2) of the shifter, fortunitly leaving the can stuck in neutral.  My questions are twofold.
1) Were there any recalls for linkage failure?
2) How difficullt is this to repair?

Answer
STAN

by linkage failure i assume you mean internal.ford has had many problems with this tranny.as for repairing the trans i would not recommend it,rebuilding transmissions is difficult even for the seasened mechanic.you would be better off finding one in junkyard, for about 700,a rebuild about 1500.hope this helps.
