Ford Repair: car wont tart after replacing fuel filter, fuel pressure gauge, purge valve

Question
I replaced my fuel filter and now my truck won't start. (92 explorer)
I removed the fuel pump fuse in the power dist. box and then ran the engine to empty the lines of fuel. After completing the new filter install, i put the fuse back in and tried to start the truck with no luck. i turned on the ignition to get the fuel pump going a few times, but still nothing. I did also check the the fuel cut-off switch just in case but that was OK.. Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Jerry

Answer
Jerry,

While under vehicle I would check to see if fuel pump (in tank) is running when key is cycled.  If the pump is running I would check for vapor locked lines or if the fuel filter is installed backwards.  If vapor locked, access the test port (schroeder valve) on fuel rail.  Attach fuel pressure gauge with a purge valve.  Cycle the key until fuel comes out of purge valve on fuel pressure gauge.
