Ford Repair: F150 Heater Core Replacement, heater core replacement, murrays auto

Question
I think I need to replace the heater core on a 1988 Ford F150 (it's blowing a vapor that smells of anti-freeze and the defroster is ineffective).  What's involved in doing this?  Is there a particular repair manual that might help?

Answer
Yes, it sounds like your heater core is leaking. The oldest manual I have for F-Series is 1996, I believe the procedure is similar on a 1987-1996.  This manual describes removing the Glove Compartment and Heater Core Cover to access and replace the Heater Core.

You could buy a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual at your local Auto Part chain store (i.e. Murrays, Auto Zone).

I hope this helps,
Dave
