Ford Repair: 1981 mustang transmission stuck in park, salvage yard, synchromesh

Question
This is a 3 liter straight 6 cylinder mustang, automatic transmission, with about 110.000 original kms. on the teller. The car got stuck in park after normal functioning before.  The car is not parked on a hill or anything else abnormal. I tried it all,it just won't shift.
There is no history of transmission problems.  The motor runs well, normal rpm's.  Nothing seems wrong, except that it won't come out of park
Any suggestions ?

Answer
Casey,

First of all, go underneath and check the shifting linkage to see if has been bent. If it wasn't, you can disconnect the linkage from the transmission and try to move it manually. If you can not move it, it is an internal problem which would indicate that your synchromesh is out and I would recommend going to a reputable salvage yard and get a used transmission or put a new one in yor car. Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
