Ford Repair: spark plug clogging, gasket seal, head gasket

Question
I have a 1966 mustang pony...200 straight 6cyl. with automatic transmission. I have found that I have to clean out my spark plugs once every 3-4 weeks, and they seem to get clogged with black cooked on oil(?). I'm not sure if it's a problem with my piston rings, or if my carborator is just running lean or what. Can you help me? I have had the cylinders honed out around the pistons and larger pistons put in about 5 years ago, and I need to replace my head gasket seal...if that helps with the diagnosis. Thank you!

Answer
Mr. Patterson,

If you have black cooked oil on your spark plugs you are running too rich. A bad head gasket could cause your trouble however you did not specify how much of the oil is fouling your plugs. If the oil is bypassing your rings, the engine will smoke and this is indicitive of bad rings. Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me again. Good luck.
