Ford Repair: 93 Mustang, mustang ken, shift rod

Question
Ken,

I received your information. I guess I didnt mention the Mustang is automatic. The shifter is on the floor. The cable I am seeing goes from the shift lever, under the dash,to the top of steering column. I dont see any cable going to the tranny.
The shift lever is bolted directly to the drivers side of tranny. The routing of the cable is what led me to think the problem might be in the ignition switch,or maybe the brake peddle, since
you have to depres the peddle to shift into gear.

Answer
Mike,

On the shift rod that goes from the shifter to the transmission is the lock rod retaining nut. Did it slip or move? Check the rod to see if it has been bent. Alot of times the problem you are describing is because the rod has come out of adjustment. Please let me know how you make out and if you need further help, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
