Ford Repair: 1987 F150 will not start when it is cold, electronic fuel pump, guideness

Question
1987 f150, 302, automatic, fuel injected.
This has been on ongoing problem, but it isn't consistent.
It just seems to happen in the morning when the temperture has dropped down to about 50 degrees or so.
I drove my truck yesterday started and drove fine. When I tried to start it this morning it just turns over and doesn't hit a lick.

When I get home tonight and it is about 20-25 degrees warmer it will start right up.

This has happened just like this before.

I didn't have time to check the plugs for wetness or the spark this morning.

I just need some guideness as where to start.

Thanks
Andy

Answer
I would check the fuel pump and/or relay.  When an electronic fuel pump starts to fail, it can be temperature sensitive.  Fuel pump relays can also start to fail intermittently before completely failing.  You should also check for spark when the engine is acting up.

I hope this helps,
Dave
