Ford Repair: 93 Mustang, brake switch, mustang

Question
Our 1993 Mustang will not go into gear when you start the car. If the key is backed off one notch from running position it will go into gear. I am not sure if this is tied to brake switch or in the ignition itself. There is a cable going to shift lever, but it looks fine. The shifter is on the
floor. Any information you could give me will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Mike,

You need to check to see if the shifting cable is stretched and/or frayed or needs adjusting (which is done on the transmission). If you don't know how to do it, write back and I will explain the procedure to you. Hope that this helps. Good luck.
