Ford Repair: Car wont start, automotive repair shop, ford tempo

Question
I have a 1992 Ford Tempo.  The car is turning over but won't start.  Any suggestions on what could be wrong?  My brother thinks it's the fuel pump. He feels the gas isn't getting through to start it. Where is the fuel pump in this vehicle.  I know some are in the gas tank.

Thanks

Answer
Ms. Travers,

On a 1992 Ford Tempo, your fuel pump is located in the gas tank. When you turn the key on in an attempt to turn the engin over, do you hear a buzzing noise? You should check to make sure you are getting spark at the coil (you can go to Auto Zone and rent a tool to check for spark) or you can pull the boot off the spark plugs and check for spark there as well (using the same tool you rent from Auto Zone). Your best bet would be to take the car to a reputable automotive repair shop and have them put a scan tool on your car to see exactly where the problem lies, which will save you money in the end. Hope that this helps and I wish you the best of luck.
