Ford Repair: 1965 Ford Mustang Gear Speedometer Drive, speedometer drive, speedometer gear

Question
I own a 4-speed manual transmission, 351 Windsor, 1965 Ford Mustang. I'm having problems getting my speedometer to work. I recently bought a speedometer cable and a 17 tooth (purple tip) speedometer gear. The old speedometer gear was worn down. My speedometer still isn't working after installing both, but I do hear a ticking. I think I need a new Gear Speedometer Drive, but I'm not sure which one to purchase (i.e. 6 tooth pink, 7 tooth black, 8 tooth brown). Please advise and thank you in advance.

Answer
Mr. Helgeson,

I am refering you to the following web site: http://www.4speedtoploaders.com/

On one of the bolts of the transmission there should be a tag with numbers on it. You will need that number to give to these people so that it will help them with the gear ratio of your transmission. If they can not help you , please write back and I will see what I can do to help you. Good luck.
