Ford Repair: engine 390, mustang 67, 390 engine

Question
Hi
I have a mustang 67 fastback with a 302 engine, a friend has a 390 engine that I will like to buy, but I don't if it is a type S (4v hi performance) or a type X (2v) how can I know that type of engine it is by only seem the engine, does the type S have anything more direfent from the type X?, and does the engine mounts from the 302 can fit the 390?. do you recomend me to put the 390?. that fastback came original with a 289 (2v). And the last one: do I have to change something in the suspencion for the 390 engine? or all these models were equip for any engine size??
thanks VERY MUCH
Rodrigo

Answer
Rodrigo,

First of all, if your car came with a v8 engine in it, you can replace it with another v8 and your should not need to do anything with your suspension. The 390 will bolt up to the 302 engine mounts. If you want to know exactly what type of engine it is, look under neather the starter for the block number and send it to me and I can tell you exactly what type of engine it is. As for recommending that engine, it is a real heavy engine with not much performance potential. i would much rather have a 351C or a 351W or the 428. Hope that this helps and good luck.
