Ford Repair: power steering pump pulley, power steering pump, power steering pump pulley

Question
i have 88 tauras 4.0   powersteering went out. i got a new pump but mangled the pully while trying to take it off. unable to find a pulley even from the dealership. got several from a junk yard, although this isnT SOMETHING THEY REMOVE OR SELL.   SO THEY WOULDNT WORK,  they brake them off.   also how do you get pully off pump.. or on for that matter.. the one from junk yard  that may have worked but to tight of fit, ended breaking tools.. oh yes we used puller to try and remove pully

Answer
The Front-End Technician at my Dealer uses special professional-grade Steering Pump Pulley Removers and Replacers for servicing.  The pulleys are pressed on VERY tight and must be on straight.  Since yours was damaged during removal and a new replacement is not available, I would try to find a used pump with the correct pulley still installed.  If you do find the correct pulley a Dealer may install it on your pump for a small fee (or free).  You wouldn't want to damage your new pump during installation and have to start over.

I hope this helps,
Dave
