Ford Repair: 1995 T-Bird LX 4.6 LTR., plastic connector, computer modules

Question
Bought car three days ago. Drove it extensively. City, highway, day, night etc. Suddenly!(ha ha)
It won't start. So I jump start it, being very careful to follow the proper procedure, 'cause I know about blowing computer modules and the like.
So it starts and runs, no problem. Lo and behold,
and luckily for me, when I am entering my underground parking garage, kerplooie! everything quits. I had to push it into my stall. Bummer, I really love this car but...Incidently, the ignition switch is loose and I think it should be replaced. Could this be the problem? Thanks RV

Answer
Yes, a loose Ignition Switch could cause these problems.  Although I haven't seen Ignition Switch's cause problems since 1991 when Ford had a Recall on them.  I would drop the lower dash trim and steering column to inspect the switch, mounted on top of the column behind the cluster.  Try to reproduce the problem, and verify that the plastic connector is not loose in the metal housing (that's why the earlier switches were recalled).

I hope this helps,
Dave
