Ford Repair: Mustang VIN, mustang, digits

Question
Where would I locate the VIN on the engine of a 1965 Mustang?

Answer
Andre-

More often than not those engines don't have VINs on them.  If you're lucky enough, many came with small metal tags bolted to the intake that *sometimes* had the VINs scribed on them.  Usually those are long gone these days.  You can date the engine itself by the part number on the back passenger side of the block next to the starter.  If it's a '65 motor, the part number should start out with the digits C5.  C is the decade code...1960, and 5 is the year within that decade.  Hope this helps.
