Ford Repair: abs light stays on, abs sensor, abs computer

Question
I have an 2002 Explorer with 75,000 miles (highway miles). The abs light is on so I checked the brake fluid & brakes & found the pads worn over half way down.  The rotors looked good and smooth on the braking surface but the outer edge is alittle rusty & flakey looking. I did not have the rotors resurfaced. I changed the pads about 500 miles ago and still have the abs light on.

Answer
Hi Don,
Sorry to say but the ABS doesn't have anything to do with the mechaical side of the brakes. The only way to tell for sure is to have the "codes pulled" from the ABS computer. If you want to try a "shot in the dark" you can replace the rear ABS sensor. This is the cause of most ABS lights. It is located in the top of the rear end and is held in by one bolt a has 1 connector. It only casts about $35. GOOD LUCK.
