Ford Repair: Exhaust, exhaust shop, stock equipment

Question
Yes I have a 1997 FOrd F150 and I was wanting true dual exhaust on the truck.  I am trying to give it the apearance and the sound of a lightning.  DO I have to cut the Ypipe on the truck from the factory or can I use an X pipe for a lightning.  THe truck has a 4.6 litre in it.

Your best bet would probably be just removing all of the stock equipment and having an exhaust shop run the tubing and mufflers.  The Lightning pipes might work, but I've got my doubts.  First of all, the Lightning uses side exhaust and it might be a little difficult to run that setup on a regular F-150.  Also, the Lightning uses a 5.4L motor so I'm not sure the dimensions would match up properly.  I would just have an exhaust shop do a custom job and run the mufflers of your choice (I'd recommend either Borlas or Bassannis, but those are both kind of expensive options).  Hope this helps.
