Ford Repair: Ford E-250 conversion van, driving cross country, ford shop

Question
Our van is still under warranty and is in need of repair.  I was informed by the mechanic that a spark plug either blew out or came out some by other way and ruiened the cylinder head, which has to be replaced.  My question is what if anything should I ask him about checking.  Will they automaticly check for debre in the engine? Are there any other concerns about the preformance of the van that I should ask?

Answer
Marla, I'm assuming that the van is in a Ford shop for warranty repair, and they will follow the procedures established by Ford for the repair.  The cylinder head will be replaced, not repaired.  Other related items will be inspected, cleaned, and reused where possible, replaced where needed.
It's not likely that anything entered the engine and damaged the cylinder walls, but they will certainly check for that anyway.
Ask the service manager to have the technician show you your engine when it is apart, so that you can see the parts and he can explain what he is inspecting and what he is replacing.  Ask him to treat it as if his mother was driving cross-country in it next week.  Your Ford dealer should not have a problem with that.
Hope this helps...
