Ford Repair: fuel pump?, fuel pump relay, mustang gt

Question
i have a 1988 mustang gt with a 5.0  as of late when i turn the ignition to the on position the fuel pump turns on and never turns off(i can hear the pump on). i know before that it would turn on for a second or two and then turn off before i started the engine. but with it staying on when i turn the engine on it seems to flood the motor and i can smell fuel. i replaced the fuel pump relay under the driver seat and still the same problem.i am wondering if it could be a bad fuel pump?

Answer
I dont think it should matter if the fuel pump turns off when you crank the motor.  In fact, i dont think its supposed to anyway.  The motor needs fuel pressure to start the engine.  Unless it stays on when you shut the car off just forget about it.  Look somewhere else for your problem.
