Ford Repair: 1997 Ford F-150 4.2L V6, ford f 150, bob soper

Question
I need to replace the 4.2L V6 in my 1997 F-150.  There are two 4.2L V6's available used, one out of a Thunderbird and one from an Explorer.  Would either of these motors be the same as the F-150?

  The 4.2L truck motor is the one you'll want.  The one from the Explorer. There probably isn't much difference between the T-Bird and Explorer motor, but to save yourself some hassle the Explorer motor would be the one to get.  Hope this helps.
