Ford Repair: Ford 302 engine problems, ford 302 engine, vacuum leak

Question
I have a Ford 302 carburated engine in a toy I own.  Recently it seems to have developed a problem.

It seems to be breaking up really bad, especially at higher RPM's.  When I pull up to a stop sign, it does not initially want to idle.  After giving a little gas for a few seconds, it seems to settle down and be fine.

I was just out for a ride and it was really bad for about 20 minutes.  The last 20 minutes of the ride, it did not seem to break up as bad as at the beginning.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kevin

i would check for a vacuum leak.check the intake manifold and base of carb.the best to check for leak is get a can of wd-40 and start car and spray at the base of manifold and carb,if the cars idle speeds up you have a leak.the other thing i would check is the carb take apart and clean,it may be time for a rebuild.also check your timing.hope this helps.
