Ford Repair: getting spark, ohm meter, best bet

Question
I PARKED MY 87 T-BIRD RUNNING GREAT BUT WHEN I WENT TO START IT LATER IT WOULDN'T START. I KNEW I WAS LOW ON GAS AND FIGURED THAT IT HAD RAN OUT WHERE IT SAT. I PUT GAS IN & IT STILL DIDN'T START. I CHANGED THE COIL BECAUSE I WASN'T GETTING ANY SPARK FROM WIRES. THE FUEL PUMP WORKS, BRAND NEW ALTERNATER,COIL,PLUGS, WIRES AND CAP/ROTOR. WHAT COULD IT BE?? AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED?? HOW DO I GO ABOUT FIXING IT??? 1987 FORD T-BIRD 8 CYLINDER     THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND EXPERTISE.   JOE CHARLESTON

Answer

i assume all the wires are connected correctly.i would check the components under the dist cap.your best bet would be to put the car on a scan tool.i would also check the ignition module.follow wire from dist to module and make sure they are not loose or broken.the way you test the module is with a ohm meter, you should read 35000 ohms, also test for continuty.hope this helps.
