Ford Repair: Muffler, little holes, ford mustang

Question
Hi Ken,
I know mu Fors is not between 1964 and 1974 but mey be you can solve the question.

I have a Ford Mustang 2003 V6 and I change the original muffler for a Magnaflow...looking for some sound, but the muffler increase the performance but the sound is not what I was especting...I would like a little more sound...
The question is what happend if I drill some little holes (three or four) between the engine and the muffler (1/8")?
Thanks,John

Answer
John,

If you drill the little holes that you are describing to me here, you will A) prematurely rot your exhaust system out and B) it may not be street legal in your state. Try a set of Flowmasters, they usually give good sound. Of course if you are looking for noise/sound, you could always go with a set of headers. Hope that this helps.

Good luck.
Ken
