Ford Repair: 84 302 HO cfi trouble shooting, inertia switch, fuel pump relay

Question
I recently bought a 1984 Mustang GT 302-HO (CFI), the car was not running when I got it. The previous owner told me that fuel came out of the top of the injectors when he attempted to start it. Since I have had the car I am not getting any fuel at all, I am however getting good spark. With the exception of the injectors and the pressure regulator (which all came from a Cougar at the local junkyard) the throttle body has been entirely rebuilt (new gaskets, O-rings, etc...). The inertia switch is passing battery voltage (12 volts) through it, although I do not fully understand how that circut works. There are 2 wires entering into the inertia switch, both carrying 12 volts. I assumed that one wire entering in would carry voltage to the switch which as long as it is closed will pass that voltage through to the exiting wire, when this switch is opened the circut then breaks preventing the voltage from leaving through the second wire. When I disconnect my inertia switch, both wires are still hot. This however shouldn't effect the power to my fuel pumps. I have read about a fuel pump relay mechanism. Does mine have one and if so where should it be located? Now I still have no power to either fuel pump (I'm assuming both pumps did not fail at the same time leading me to believe they are in fact good) so in your opinion where do I look now and what info if any could you give me on the procedures?                                                                                                        Thank You Michael Baker

Answer
I have nothing good to say about fords early CFI injection systems.  To get it to function properly you will need parts that are no longer made.  They do no favors in the performance department either.  CFI engines had 15 less horsepower than their 4 barrel carbuerated counterparts.  If you think the only problem is the fuel pumps, hook the wires directly to the ignition switch or any hot lead that turns on with the ignition.  There is a relay switch in the trunk of the car behind a plastic pannel probably on the drivers side.  I would ditch the entire setup and go with the 4 barrel holly that came on the stick shift cars.
