Ford Repair: 66 Ford Mustang Problem, defective alternator, edelbrock intake

Question
Over the last couple of months my mustang has had a very strange problem.  A little background for you -- changed the spark plugs three months ago, I replaced the battery and a defective alternator today (6/5/204).  This car also has a Edelbrock 4bbl carb, Edelbrock intake, and an electronic distributor on it.  What happens is the engine starts (most of the time), but after I let it run, I rev it up to give it gas and it dies after I let off the gas.  If it doesn't die, I put it in drive and drive around the block, after about a 1/4 mile, it starts to miss and dies.  If I just let it sit in the garage after it starts, after about a minute it starts to miss and then will die soon after.

the problem could be the carb or in the timing.check your accelerator pump on the carb.the float may also be sticking.i would clean the carb and see if you still have the problem.if you do and the timing is corret,it may be time for a carb rebuild.
