Ford Repair: Early Bronco Steering, james duff enterprises, early bronco

Question
I'm converting from manual to Power Steering on my 1971 Bronco.  The kit I bought from James Duff Enterprises says to loosen a clamp on the side of the u-joint connecting the steering shaft to the steering box, which I've done, then to loosen a circular clamp at the end of the steering column (near the firewall) and pull the steering shaft up the column until the end of the u-joint is even with the oil filter.  This is presumeably to help remove the u-joint at the bottom end from the input shaft of the manual gear box.  My question/problem is that I've loosened the lower u-joint and have loosened 2 clamps at the top, one small one around the shaft itself, and the other, which is a larger hose clamp, around the steering "column" inside the engine compartment, but can't seem to move the shaft up the column as suggested.  My shaft appears to be one solid long piece.  Am I doing something wrong because many tech manual pictures I have show a totally different shaft than what I have.

Answer
Mr. Peterson,

There are 2 different shafts for your vehicle. To get you the best and most accurate help possible, I am suggesting that you visit the following web site: Classic Broncos @ http://classicbroncos.com

Hope that this helps you out and good luck.
