Ford Repair: wipers, pivot screws, pliars

Question
I want to know if I could change a front wiper at
home, and not have to take it to a garage? I'm not talking about the wiper itself but the whole unit.Someone ripped the wiper off my 1993 Ford Explorer an I thought it just needed the wiper arm replaced. When I put the wiper arm on it stuck out about 6" from the windsheild. I then noticed that the pivit shaft was bent.I also want to know where the cheapest place would be to get the part? I am some what mechanically inclined and don't really want to pay someone for something I could do myself.

Answer
take the cover off to show the metal area where the pivot screws to the sheet metal of the car.  That may have to be bent or pounded back into place before you replace anything.  I dont think you can get those parts, meaning the wiper arm, the mechanical parts under the cowling, or the nob they mount on, from anywhere but a dealership or a junkyard.  It shouldn't be hard to change, there may be some strange factory clips that need a special tool to remove.  I took my clips off using a few screwdrivers and a pliars, but it was a pain as i did not have the special ford tool.
