Ford Repair: Clutch adjustment, haynes repair manual, clutch adjustment

Question
Mr. Francis:
I've got a '93 mustang (LX hatchback), 2.3 4-cylinder, with a manual transmission.
I was looking through a Haynes Repair Manual, and it said that my car has a self-adjusting clutch mechanism.  From what I understand, to adjust the clutch I just have to raise the clutch pedal (with my foot) as high as it will go, then push it all the way to the floor.  According to the manual, if I hear a "click", then adjustment was necessary and has taken place.
Is this true, or am I seriously mis-reading something?

Answer
thats true.  Eventually you will run out of adjustment though, and then it will not work anymore.  If thats the case, you may need to replace the clutch, or the mechinism may be broken.  If you look hard under the dash, you can see the mechinism that holds the cable, you can see the teeth that are on the pedal that catch on the cable.  Look to see if anything looks broken.
