Ford Repair: Fuel, ground cables, test light

Question
I have 1988 ford ranger 2'9L' I have fuel to my inj. and none going in to moter. My inj. are fine. Can you help me!

Answer
Ben, I'd start by checking the fuel pressure - you need at least 30 psi for the fuel to be injected.
If that's OK, then test for power at the injectors - just unplug one or two, and use a test light to check for power on one of the terminal when the key is on.
If the power is OK, then the ground side of the injectors needs to be tested... it is a pulsed ground provided by the PCM.  An easy way to test this is to run your test light between the two terminals on an injector, and crank the engine over... the test light should flash.
Once you know what is missing, then proceed with a logical diagnosis and repair.  If the fuel pressure is low, you probably need a fuel pump in the tank.
If the power is missing to the injectors, check the fuseable links near the starter relay on the fender.
If the ground is missing to the injectors, check the ground at the PCM and make sure it is case-grounded.  I've had to add an extra ground wire to a few, and I've repaired many ground cables at the battery that didn't allow enough current to flow.
Hope this helps...
