Ford Repair: cooling system, blown head gasket, coolant level

Question
I have a 1993 ford escort LX. Last sunday my car overheated due to low coolant level. We refilled it and it did fine all week it was cool outside, then yesterday it was 90 and it started again. Today it is a cool 65 outside. I looked at it today and it is leaking water only while it is running it is coming out near the passanger side front tire. I put my hand there and the water is not very hot but it had only been running for a few minutes also, I checked my oil level and it is fine I don't know if you can tell if there is water in the oil by looking on the dipstick but I did not see any. Any help would be extremely appriciated Thank you .

Answer
Angela, the coolant leak may not be serious at all - hopefully it is just a cracked hose - but you should find and fix the leak before driving it much further;  continued driving with low coolant will cause much larger problems, like a blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head, cracked engine block....
Let the car cool down overnight, then check the radiator and fill it up in the morning.  Keep filling it with water (try not spill any on the engine) and watch for any water coming out of the engine.  If it stays dry and full, crank it up and keep watching for the leak.  You could have a split heater hose, or a leaking water pump, or a leaking gasket...  once you determine where, then you should determine if you can fix it, or if you'll need to get it to a shop.  If a water pump is needed, go ahead and replace the timing belt at the same time.
The oil would usually show a cloudy 'milk-shake' look if it has water mixed into it.
Hope this helps...
