Ford Repair: flooding ford, crown vic, vacuum hose

Question
1987 crown vic, 302 sefi, started flooding like someone flipped a switch. Replaced pressure regulator,no change. injectors are recently replaced. will check fuel  pressure. Pump is about 3 years old. No codes. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer
A code check and some diagnosis would be the best course of action, of course.  Without seeing the car or running any tests, my guess would be the MAP sensor is way out of range... it's fairly common, and few shops have a tester to check the sensor.  Replacing it with a 'known good part' is quickest way to test it.  The MAP sensor is located on the passenger side of the firewall, near the A/C box, and it is a black plastic rectangle with a vacuum hose and an electrical connector going to it.  Two screws hold it in.
As a quick test for the MAP, you can unplug the electrical connector and try cranking the engine - with no sensor reading, the PCM will use a default value that is closer to being correct that a bad sensor... it may not run great, but should be better!
Hope this helps...
