Ford Repair: rear main seal, oil additives, crown vic

Question
My '80 Ford LTD Crown Vic' is in excellent condition, but the rear main seal drips oil.
I understand it's expensive to replace because have to move the motor and/or trans', right?
Anyway, I'm wondering if there are any temporary fixes such as putting some kind of sealer (silicone?) around the outside of it, or any oil additives that would help and not hurt something else?

Answer
You cant put any goup around the seal because to goup it up you would have to still remove the trans or motor, and you mise well replace the seal if you get that far.  There are additives that will stop small leaks in engine oil but if its a serious problem, its not going to help. Make sure you know its the rear main, could be the transmission, or it could be something else leaking from the top of the engine and driping down the back of the motor onto the bellhousing.
