Ford Repair: Standard Transmission - 1964, john demoss, 1964 ford f100

Question
Ken,

I own a 1964 Ford F100 Pickup with a standard transmission.  Since it is not an automatic, do I ever have to worry about changing any fluid in it?  So far, I have never touched it in five years of ownership.  However, it is leaking a small amount.  Thanks.

John DeMoss

Answer
Mr. DeMoss,

Yes, you need to change the transmission fluid at least every 2 years. When you go to replace the old fluid with new (after draining the old out) you only fill it to the bottom of the drain plug hole. Hope that this helps and I apologize for the length of time it took to respond to your question but I was experiencing technical difficlties by way of the telephone company and hopefully it is now fixed. Good luck.

Ken
