Ford Repair: Vortex Generators, air intake hose, ford ranger 4x4

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 litre engine. Do thes vortex generators that you put in your air intake hose really work or are they scams. They say they increase horsepower and gas mileage. One is called the tubonator and I've seen others. I'd like to get better gas mileage.

  Those things may give you 2 or 3 extra horsepower and increase your gas mileage by a mile per gallon, but they're hardly worth the money they sell for in my opinion.  Like many things, they hardly live up to the advertising hyperbole.  Hope this helps.
