Ford Repair: taurus transmision, wheel drive car, drive nissan

Question
I am removing the transmission from my wifes 1998 ford taurus. I will also be replacing the transmission with a rebuilt one. The car is front wheel drive and i have never tackled a project like this before.

Are there any tips you can give me?

Thank you for your time.

Ben

Answer
Dont do it.  Front wheel drive vheicles are the biggest pain in the ass jobs you can ever imagine.  Trust me, unless you have good experience with things that are very involved and mechanical, do not attmept the job.  I can replace an entire mustang drivetrain from the engine to the rear end in a single day, but i tried working on a little front wheel drive nissan and was very unsucessfull.  Lots of small bolts in hard to reach places, lots of little parts that have to go on very precisely.  Also keep in mind that when they build a front wheel drive car, the entire car gets dropped on the front drive train, the drive train is not realy ment to be lifted out of the hood and thats one reason there such pain in the asses.
