Ford Repair: HP Clutch, street clutch, type clutch

Question
Hello. I have a '99' Mustang GT (4.6 liter) Im looking for a High Performance clutch. I was told about one that would last forever & give or appear to give my car more torque. When i bought the car last year there was 40,000 miles on it. Theres now 53,000 miles & im almost positive this is the original clutch. I know how to drive a stick pretty well, but it took me awhile to get use to this one (it was very hard to push in) so I admitt i was kinda rough on this clutch. So can you give me a good clutch name & price that holds up well? Thanks
Margie :o)

Answer
Margie-

Let me say that I've been out of the manual tranny game for quite a while so I don't have a clue as to the prices these days.  The only time I ever drove sticks was during SCCA road racing and that was with a car that didn't belong to me.  As for a good street clutch, it's hard to beat the clutches put out by SPEC and Ram.  SPEC stuff is great because they offer different stages of clutches...stages 1-4 I believe.  Stage 1 being a stock-type clutch and 4 being all out racing.  Ram has been in the game for years and can give you anything from a stock-type clutch all the way up to a multi-disc Pro Stock dragster clutch.  Good places to look around online would be Summit Racing or Jegs (throw "dot com" on the end of those for their websites).  Hope this helps.
