Ford Repair: timeing, intake valves, time thanks

hello jordan
i have a f1 50 pick up with 6cy. can you tell me how to set the timeing i had to pull the dis out and cant get it wright can you tell me how to get it back in time ? thanks very much for your time pete

You must bring the first cylinder to top dead center, this is where the piston is closest to the cylinder head and both exhaust and intake valves are closed on the way up.  Put your distributor in, make sure the rotor is pointing to a contact, and then starting with the first cylinder on the distributor terminal that the rotor is on, install the wires in the correct order.
