Ford Repair: Alternator, ford taurus, salvage yard

Question
The bearings behind the pulley on the Alternator.
At least, I think they are behind the pulley.
These bearings are making a heck of a grinding racket. I do not have a schematic of a 1987 Ford Taurus Alternator. 3.0 liter. THe inner workings.
The Alternator is fine: Only the bearings are making a terrible grinding racket. What I would like to do, remove the pulley on the front of the Alternator to gain access to the bearings. At least I think I will gain access to the bearings.
The library does not have a schematic of this alternator. Is this possible to gain access to the bearings. I have had Alternators in the 70;s dissambeled for repair. What I would like to do is get another alternator from the Salvage yard and remove the bearings from that one and install in my alternator. I have replaced diodes in alternators in the 70;s that were bad. Will I be able to gain access to the bearings, without special tools???

Answer
You need special pulling tools.  The bearings are press fit and will be difficult to replace.  I dont think any regular store will sell the bearings, thats kind of a factory direct to repair shop type of part.  Just take it to an alternator rebuild shop, they will do the best job and are not expensive.  If you realy want to do the job yourself, there are rebuild kits that would include the bearing along with all the other parts.  Good luck finding the one for your specific model.
