Ford Repair: Oil, coefficient of friction, 5w30

Question
Hello,
What brand of oil do you reccomend?

Answer
Zach-

Without a doubt the most readily available oil I would recommend is Mobil 1 synthetic 10W30.  Aside from other blends like Amsoil (which is generally only available through special dealers), it has the lowest coefficient of friction that I've ever seen in a study (I know commercials and ads say different...but don't believe the hype).  Even if your manual calls for 5W30, as many do, I'd still use 10W30.  5W30, in my opinion, is too thin to effectively protect parts from wear and tear.  You might lose 1/4 of a mile per gallon (thinner oil means less effort to turn the engine which means slightly higher fuel efficiency), but the protection to the engine will pay for itself.  Hope this helps.
