Ford Repair: 1992 Mustang motor swap, mustange, motor swap

Question
Hi,

I have a 1992 Mustange LX convertible with the 5.0 HO.  I want to swap the motor with a 1995 5.0 HO.  I have been told that I must switch the distributor and intake manifold for it to work properly with the 1992 computer chip.  The distrubtor looks the same on both engines and the intake is a little different.  Do you know if I need to switch these out?
Thanks.

The only way I can see your car's distributor being different than a 95's is if they switched over to the EEC-V in '95.  I don't have any of my books in front of me and can't recall exactly what year the Mustangs switched over, but even if the distributor doesn't work, your '92 distributor should drop right in and work fine.  As for the intake, it's a bit smaller to clear the SN-95 ('94-'98 cars) hood since the engine bay is a bit tighter fit.  I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I wouldn't use it anyway.  I'd just swap your old intake onto the '95 motor and you'll be ready to rock.  The '95 intakes are just a little more restrictive so you're better off with the original.  Hope this helps.
