Ford Repair: 1991 ford escort, cv joints, 1991 ford escort

Question
I have a 1991 ford escort.  the problem that I'm having is that the front wheels wobble and the steering wheel shakes when I step on the brake while driving.  I don't know if its both wheels or just one of them.  I have changed the rotors and the brake pads just recently because I thought that it was the problem.  Can you give me advice on what could cause this problem and how can I fix it myself.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.  THANK YOU

Ryan

Answer
Hi Ryan,
It sounds like you need new front hub bearings. They are very hard to replace and need special tools and a press to replace. If you have some tools, you could save some money by removing the front spindles off your car and take them to your repair shop to have new bearings installed.
Also check your CV joints.
