when you say it wont start,do you have spark?.if the oil pump shaft is not seated correctly,it will bend causing no oil pressure.make sure the points are gapped correct, if you have them.if there is no points there is a star wheel on the distributer under the cap.if one of the fins on the star wheel is not lined up with the magnetic pickup assembly(magnet)it wont start.make sure all of you electrical connections are correct.if one of the wires going to the coil is backwards you will not have spark.

Have spark new carb. Oil pump shaft is problem as well as ignition timing. Was given advice to tap starter to seat oil pump shaft. did not work. tried to get dtc and set dist and wiring but that is when I had trouble gettting it to turn over.

the best way to get started is find top dead center on the number one cyclinder.then its just wiggling the dist until it seats,do not pound it down as youll bend the pump shaft.as for the timing i need to know if you have points or electronic dist.
