Ford Repair: Ford ranger engine swap, swap kit, ford ranger

Question
I have a 1993 ford ranger 4.0l OHV V6, 5 speed, 4x4. I just purchased a 4.0 SOHC 1998 ford explorer engine to transplant to my ranger but I'm not sure if I need to make any modifications to anything. Could you please help cause no one else has been able to.

  Although the engines are the same displacement, that's about all they have in common.  I imagine swapping the SOHC motor into a Ranger is a lot like swapping a 4.6L motor into an older Mustang...it's doable but it takes some pretty extneive work with the motor mounts, engine brace, and electrical work.  If it were me, I'd just replace it with another 4.0L or buy a swap kit for a 5.0L (these are actually available from various vendors and it's a pretty simple install).  Hope this helps.
