Ford Repair: fiesta fan belt slipping?, socket size, fan belt

it sounds like my fan belt is slipping on a 1990 'G' 950cc fiesta. How easy is it to fit a new belt? Is there an easy release / tightening system on the belt? ie can you tighten the belt or do i have to buy a new one? If I buy a new one, how do you know how tight to fit it?

the release system is called a idler wheel. just take a ratchet with the correct socket size, and turn it counter clockwise to release the belt. the idler wheel is near the top of the belt assembly. you dont have to tighten the belt as it does it itself. and yes i would buy a new belt. hope this helps.
