Ford Repair: transmission warm up, cold weather, automatic transmission

Question
Good day.
What's the best way to warm up an automatic transmission in exremely cold weather?  Idle in neutral or park or in gear for that matter?
I have 93 F150 with auto but it's a general question I guess.
Thanks for any insight.

Answer
Darrell-

The transmission will warm up at roughly the same rate as the motor.  It would help if it was in gear, but that's rather difficult to do without the truck moving.  I'd let the motor warm up in park for 15 minutes or so...until it reaches normal operating temperature.  Then just go really easy on the throttle for the first few miles of your trip.  Hope this helps.
