Honda Repair: 94 Honda prelude S wont start, honda prelude, battery cables

Question
When i try to start my car nothing happens, the only thing that works is the lights and radio. I have taken it to autozone and they have checked the starter and the battery and they were both fine. I tried checking the main relay and i have herd the 3 clicks that you are supposed to hear. I can push start it but that is the only way it will work. So my question is how can i fix it, and also i dont know very much about cars so if you can tell me in terms i can understand i would greatly appreciate it. The car is a 5-speed also.

Answer
I'm not sure what they did to test the starter, but there is not really a good way to test the starter with it still in the car. It has to be removed to test it.

The first thing I would do is clean and tighten the battery cables. This seems very simple, but many people overlook this step and assume that that isn't the problem. After that I would take it somewhere that could do a "load test". This is a more accurate test as the battery is tested under a load (basically it puts stress on the battery for the test).

After that I would suspect that maybe the starter was going bad. There is really no easy way to check it unless you remove it, but if you take it to a repair shop they could check it.

You might have a problem with your ignition switch ( the ignition switch basically sends battery power to the starter) but that is not as likely.
