Honda Repair: Honda Civic EX 2004, cooling fans, overheating

My car keeps over heating they tell me my fans ain't coming on does anyone know if there is a sensor for the fans I really don't want to put it in the shop.. and where the sensor would be at or if I would just have. To replace the fans??

There are several things that are likely causing your problem. The first thing that you need to do is make sure your cooling system is full. There is a procedure that will help you do this as it is more difficult that it looks. Here is what you need to do:
When the engine is cold fill the coolant reservoir to the full mark. Start your car for a minute, then turn it off and recheck the coolant level and fill it if needed. Start the car and let it warm up to the normal range then let it cool down. After it is cool re-check the coolant level and top off if needed.
This will get your cooling system full. After you know it is full then check to see if the fans come on. If they don't then you know your problem is somewhere else. Several of the most common things that can cause this type of problem are the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) and the cooling fan relay. You also might have a problem with the cars computer but that is not as likely.
